Together with the Smart Economy Networks initiative, the ICC-UK's Centre for Digital Trade and Innovation have created a Community Interest Company (CIC) to promote the creation of an international super-standard and protocol to increase the efficiency of international trade by using the latest digital payments innovations. 

This was launched with an opening event at Clifford Chance on 5 December 2024 titled "Re-imagining the Future of Trade"

This is one of the key initiatives of the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation, Professor Michael Mainelli. This initiative is in line with the City of London’s “Vision for Economic Growth – a roadmap to prosperity”: creating the framework for a digital-first economy, enabling data-driven sustainable finance, and connecting innovative networks across the world. A deeply considered report from March 2024, “From Fintech To Ubiquitech: Accelerating the wider UK digital economy“, by a working group led by Dr Ruth Wandhöfer, sets out a starting programme.

Brunello Rosa is an independent advisor to the Steering Committee of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Digital Markets and Digital Money of the UK Parliament. He will provide evidence on the geopolitical role of CBDCs.

Brunello Rosa is a Freeman of the City of London. "One of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today, is believed to have been first presented in 1237."  The medieval term 'freeman' meant someone who was not the property of a feudal lord but enjoyed privileges such as the right to earn money and own land. 

The Freedom of the City of London is an ancient honor, recognizing significant contributions to the city. It's awarded by the City of London Corporation, often to individuals with strong ties to the city or its Livery Companies. It is a prestigious recognition of achievement and connection to London's history and traditions.  

Brunello Rosa is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers, a livery company that brings together emerging and established leaders in international banking and financial services, which promotes the City of London while providing networking opportunities, valuable insights and support for philanthropic causes. 

Brunello Rosa is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants, a livery company which brings together a professional peer group that contributes to the continuing success of the City of London and the UK consultancy industry, which itself works with, helps and supports all sectors of the present-day international economy. 

Brunello Rosa is an independent advisor to the Steering Committee of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Central Banks and Digital Currencies of the UK Parliament. He has provided evidence on the geopolitical role of CBDCs.

Brunello Rosa will attend the meetings of the Academic Advisory Group recently formed by the Bank of England and HM Treasury, on matters related to his line of research on CBDCs, and will contribute to the broader discussion on the design and implementation of the digital sterling. 

Brunello Rosa is a member of the Chief Economists Advisory Committee of the European Investment Bank. He attends the meetings of the Committee in Luxembourg and in other locations.

Brunello Rosa is, together with Nouriel Roubini, an independent advisor of the Digital Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) Consortium, established to implement  "Project New Era", a privately-led initiative evaluating the path towards a retail Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in the UK. The project proposes closer public-private collaboration in order to address key challenges and open questions relating to CBDC development. 

The Consortium aims at keeping central banks, regulators, and government informed of progress. The Consortium will issue dSterling, a digital settlement asset similar to a CBDC, to drive the pilot, which will focus on core design issues.
